Prayer Room 2024

Starting Thursday 9th May 2024 ("Feast of Jesus Ascension" in the church calendar) our prayer room will be open from 7am to 7pm daily until Pentecost Sunday. This lead up to the "birthday of the Church" has traditionally been a time when Christians dedicate themselves to pray and wait on the Holy Spirit. Churches around the world will be running prayer events and initiatives during this 11 day period.

But why a prayer room? Why not just pray for the church and the world at home?

There's something special about continuous or regular prayer undertaken by a community of people in a dedicated space. For thousands of years, God has been meeting with people in unique ways in spaces specifically set aside for encountering his presence. Pete Greig calls these "thin places" because it's like the veil between heaven and earth is thin. On many occasions over the last 25 years, this has been the experience of Billabongers when we've run a prayer room.

I encourage you to choose a 1 hour slot (or 2, or 5!) to come to the prayer room, spend time with God, pray for our church, and pray for the world. The room is being set up with prayer activities of various kinds - something for all ages, those who like to write, paint, draw, play, or just sit.

Here is my request: take a moment right now and ask God how much time he would like you to spend in the prayer room. I believe God wants to meet with you during this time, and that HE has a plan for that!

CLICK HERE to register your time slot. All you need to do is select your time (see image below) and fill in your details, then you'll receive an email with essential information.

Our prayer room will be open for over 140 hours during these 11 days. What a difference it could make in our lives and in our church if even half of that were dedicated to prayer during this period.

I'll follow up next week with a photo of what the prayer room and prayer activities look like - but don't wait till then! Sign up now!

Happy praying!
