Facilities Manager


The role of the Facilities Manager of The Billabong Uniting Church congregation will be to manage the operations of The Billabong Community Centre’, overseeing maintenance and bookings/tenancy. The will also assist in management of the finances of the congregation in relation to the operation of the community centre.


The Facilities Manager works closely with The Billabong Leadership team to ensure the facility is operated in such a way that aligns with the heart of The Billabong to be a kingdom building church which enables and empowers a variety of Christian ministry and mission and positive community activities. They will relate with and oversee the bookings of 15-20 regular tenants running a variety of community and ministry activities, and with other local church ministries who will book from time to time.


The Facilities Manager also oversees the ongoing maintenance of the community centre and property at 701 & 702 Liffey Street, and overseeing repairs, upgrades, projects and other issues as they arise. This includes overseeing and monitoring a maintenance, cleaning and gardens budget and leasing with various contractors.


The role of Facilities Manager is a demanding but rewarding role, requiring a well organized, diligent worker who works well with a team, has good communication skills and is able to handle conflict and manage priorities. In particular, we are seeking a person who shares the heart of The Billabong for our community centre to be a place where God’s kingdom grows and ministry and community activity blossoms.

This role will be between 3.5 and 5 days per week (to be confirmed) and work days are flexible (can be full days or part days). The Church Administrator works from The Billabong Community Centre (reception area) with work responsibilities from home and/or after hours from time to time. The position will be on a fixed term (1 year) contract, with the possibility to move to a permanent contract after 1 or more years. The contract will include a period of probation.
